Tire type and punctures

Tires & tubes type
At Amladcykler we only use branded tires and tubes from well-known brand tires and tubes factories, for example. Kenda and more.
With a branded tire, we ensure that the quality is always of high and uniform quality, thus minimizing tires and tubing errors to virtually no one, and reducing possible punctures due to manufacturing defects.
In relation to the tubes, we use the type with mechanical auto valve, as this ensures that no air flows out of the valve, as with other types with rubber parts.
If you have a display where everything works fine, but there is moisture / water in the display, it is important to know the difference:
Moisture is an expression of the difference between the outside and inside temperature and or humidity. See example:
At Amladcykler we have two types of Tires
Ordinary Tires
Anti-puncture Tires
Anti-puncture Tires does not mean that a cargo bikes tires is puncture-free, but it does mean that the cargo bike tire has an extra protection (see illustrated above), which makes it difficult to penetrate the cargo bike tires. Often, the number of punctures is reduced by 80-90%.
As professionals, we therefore most often use the term Anti-puncture tire “puncture-inhibiting”, but in common people “puncture-free tire” is used, although this is not actually correct.
Anti-puncture tires
Anti-puncture tires are a really good choice if you want to avoid punctures. Thus, choosing this tire reduces the type of puncture by approx. 80-90%, but unfortunately these tires also puncture. Often, however, large and sharp objects are needed, as smaller objects are trapped by the extra protection in the tire.
How to avoid punctures. Here are some good tips:
- Always keep your bike properly pumped (check psi pressure level on the side of the tire, but basically the correct pressure is 65 psi on our El cargo bike / El long John / Cargo bike and 45 psi on our El handicap bike
- Always use the right pump type – which should be used for the auto-valve type to avoid damaging the valve.
- Good tires. Check that your tires have a good wear layer and do not look old and cracked.
- If you want to buy Anti-puncture tires, see here: Anti-puncture tires
Are you already punctured?
It is just a shame to puncture, but unfortunately it is part of having a bike. Unfortunately, on cargo bikes / disability bikes and Long John, the probability is greater than on ordinary, bicycles. This is often do to drive with higher weight and of course that there are 3 pcs. wheels and not 2 pcs. as on an alm. bike.
Here are some good tips:
- Start pumping your bike again. From time to time, we experience vandalism in the form of air being ejected from the hoses
- Try to investigate why you are punctured. If the air comes out of the valve, the tire (hose), an object is stuck in the tire?
- If you have a defective hose and tire due to a foreign object passing through the tire, it is perfectly correct to change both hose and tire. This is because there is now a hole in the deck and that this will be open to foreign objects and therefore you are very likely to puncture again. From time to time we experience points repeatedly on the same wheel by users, almost always the explanation for not changing tires and tubing to new
