A Beginner’s Guide to Cargo Bike Riding
Are you curious about how difficult it is to ride a cargo bike? You’re not alone. Many people considering switching to a cargo bike wonder what the transition from a traditional bicycle to a cargo bike will be like. Here, we’ll shed some light on what to expect and how quickly you can get comfortable with your new cargo bike.

Getting Started
At first, maneuvering a cargo bike can seem challenging. With its larger size and cargo capacity, it’s different from what most people are used to. But fear not – as with any new skill, riding a cargo bike quickly becomes second nature with a little practice.

The Learning Process
Learning to ride a cargo bike takes a bit of patience and practice. At first, balancing and steering may feel different, especially when the cargo bike is loaded. But don’t worry, most new users report that they quickly adjust to the new dimensions and weight distribution.

Building Confidence
It’s crucial to start slowly and give yourself time to adjust. Try riding on quieter roads or in parks where you can practice without stress. With each ride, your confidence and comfort with the cargo bike will grow.

Safety First
Always remember to prioritize safety. Make sure you’re familiar with all the safety features on your cargo bike, and always wear a helmet. Obey traffic laws and be aware of your surroundings.

It Becomes Second Nature
Over time, you’ll find that riding a cargo bike will become as easy and instinctive as riding any other bike. It’s a great means of transportation that offers flexibility and functionality, whether you’re transporting kids, shopping, or simply enjoying a ride around town.

If you need a powerful motor that can handle heavy loads or riding on hilly terrain, a mid-drive electric cargo bike is an ideal choice. This type of motor offers strong performance and a more natural cycling feel, as opposed to the push-and-pull feel that some people associate with a rear-wheel motor.

On the other hand, the rear-wheel motor is excellent in terms of price and energy efficiency. It is perfect for those who prefer fast acceleration and agility, making it ideal for two-wheeled bicycles and cargo bikes intended for city riding.

It is important to consider your daily riding needs and routes when deciding which motor will be best for you. At Amladcykler, we are ready to guide and advise you so that you can make the most informed choice between a mid-drive and a rear-wheel motor, ensuring that your bike matches your lifestyle and riding needs perfectly.

We only offer financing in England (Via Klarna), Sweeden (Via Klarna) and Denmark(Via Sparxpres and Viabill.

It is important to ensure that you maintain your cargo bike. The first service should be carried out after you have ridden approx. 20 km. After that, you should have your bike serviced every 500 – 600 km. that you ride your bike. If you do not ride your bike that often, we recommend that you have your bike serviced at least 2-3 times a year.

How far you can expect to go on a charge depends on many factors. Km per charge depends on how many ah your battery has. The more ah the more km per charge. In addition, wind, whether you ride with a canopy, weight of the bike and assist level from your cargo bike electric motor play a big role in the impact of the battery.
Yes, a canopy and canopy bars are included in the price of all our cargo bikes.

Your infant /baby can be transported safely in a baby seat that is attached to the cargo bike’s seat, see our selection here: Infant / babyseat

It is important to tighten the straps properly so that your baby sits securely.

Since infants cannot yet sit upright and support their own head, it is not possible for them to wear a bicycle helmet.

Once your child has outgrown the Baby Seat and can sit up on their own (typically around 12-18 months of age), they can start using the regular seats on the cargo bike. This is also when they can start using a bike helmet. We do advise the 3 -point harness for extra safty: Harness

Safety precautions: It is essential that the child is always secured with a harness while riding and that they cannot reach the wheels with their fingers.

Wearing a Bicycle Helmet: It is recommended that children wear a bicycle helmet as soon as they are old enough to do so – even when riding a cargo bike. This not only increases safety, but also teaches them the importance of wearing a helmet while cycling from an early age. See our Helmets

With a focus on safety, we at Amladcykler have chosen to equip most of our cargo bikes with hydraulic disc brakes. These brakes work in a way that is comparable to the brakes in a car, where the brake disc is mounted directly on the wheel and rotates with it. Unlike mechanical disc brakes, which use a cable to brake, hydraulic brakes use a closed system with oil. This design ensures more efficient and reliable braking, which significantly improves safety.
